    GOOD TO KNOW

    Sharp images, sensible limits

PNG is pixel-based and has a fixed resolution, while an SVG traced from a PNG approximates the source with editable paths. For performance, PNG-to-SVG tracing is limited to 5 MB and large images are downsampled before tracing. Very large PNG outputs can use substantial browser memory; SVG-to-PNG output is limited to 25 megapixels. SVGs that need external resources, scripts, or embedded HTML are not accepted.

    ANSWERS

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my SVG files uploaded?

No. Your files are read and converted locally by your browser. They are not uploaded to a server by this page.

Can I convert several SVG files at once?

Yes. Add up to 20 files and convert them together. Download each PNG individually, or use Download ZIP to save the whole batch in one archive.

Can I keep a transparent background?

Yes. Transparent is selected by default and preserves the SVG’s transparency. You can instead choose a solid color for images that need a filled background.

Why was my SVG file rejected?

The file must be a valid SVG and no larger than 10 MB. For privacy, the converter also blocks SVG files that include scripts, embedded HTML, or external resources such as linked images and stylesheets.

Will converting SVG to PNG change its quality?

PNG stores pixels at a fixed size. Choose output dimensions at least as large as where you plan to display the image for a crisp result. Keep your original SVG whenever you need a resolution-independent copy.

Does PNG to SVG create real vector paths?

Yes. The PNG-to-SVG tool traces color regions into editable SVG paths. It does not embed the PNG in an SVG wrapper. Tracing approximates detailed edges and colors, so results depend on the image and chosen settings.

Can the PNG tracer preserve transparent backgrounds?

Transparent source pixels stay transparent where possible. The tracer also keeps alpha opacity in its color palette, though tracing and color reduction can change fine edges.

What tracing settings should I use?

Start with Balanced detail and 16 colors. Increase the color count for artwork with more distinct colors, or choose Detailed paths to follow edges more closely. Fewer colors and Smooth paths usually make simpler, smaller SVG files.

What is the PNG size limit for tracing?

PNG files can be up to 5 MB and 4096 pixels per side. Images above 1.2 megapixels are reduced proportionally before tracing to limit memory use and keep the browser responsive.
